In Arlington Texas, Virginia Gonzalez was asked to breastfeeding her child in a bathroom at the Helen Wessler Play Pool. The following letter is to thank the Parks Department as well as the Aquatic Program Manager for their positive action in regards to the incident.

Thank you also for your quick and appropriate action in educating your staff about the current laws regarding breastfeeding. Thank you for working with your staff to ensure that they are more understanding of all of your customers. That will be a great asset for the city of Arlington. Your action to inform your pool managers of Chapter 165 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, "A mother is entitled to breastfeed her baby in any location in which the mother is authorized to be", and incorporate it the annual Manager's Training will ensure that all present and future Aquatic Facility Managers are knowledgeable on a mother's right to breastfeed in public. This will also help mothers feel more comfortable nursing their children at your pools and make it less likely that mothers will feel they need to bring formula feed their children while in public even if they want to exclusively breastfeed as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The AAP Feb 2005 policy states that "infants should be exclusively fed breastmilk for the first six months and breastfeeding should be continued for at least the first year of life and beyond for as long as mutually desired by mother and child."
